Close my eyes to help the yips

If you close your eyes, then you have no idea where you’re putting towards.

Doesn’t sound right does it?

There are many people advocating this idea to try for golfers with the yips. Here is the positives of this drill. Because the golfer can no longer see the hole, he is disassoicated himself from the result of the putt. Which means he no longer focuses on the result of whether he will make the putt or not.

This change of focus will help the golfer temporarily produce better putting strokes. But the problem here is, putting is a target oriented activity, and if you can’t see where the target is, what kind of chance are you giving yourself to putt the ball into the hole?

Again, this is a temporary fix, and you cannot rely on this drill to fix your yips.
